First Post...time for a poll

So...my first post on this blog and what better way to start it off than with a poll! Actually, thats probably the worst way to start it off since most likely noone is reading this. I started this blog to rant about economics, politics and current events. I was doing a bit of that on my other blog, but it was the wrong audience i think.

I'm getting a very unique perspective on the world now that i'm out of my home country. Being that i'm in a much more socialist environment, there have been endless opportunities to discuss how europe does things different than America. A few nights ago it occured to me that the reasons are really quite simple...people here have different expecations for the government. With this in mind, i thought it would be interesting to take a poll of what people think the top 10 functions of government are. In order to facilitate and make compiling results easier, i wrote a list of 10 functions and what i ask is that you organize them in descending order from most important to least important. Also, please include where you are submitting from! Aside from the overall rankings, it will be neat to compare US vs. Non US countries. You can email or "comment" your answers...i'm gonna try to wait 2 wks or 25 posts..whichever comes first, before sharing there results.

So without further adue, lets get to it...

Coin/Print Money
Maintain a postal system
Provide for the common welfare
Protect it's citizens and borders
Manage the economy
Establish and run the judicial system
Represent the people
Protect Individual rights
Be limited in scope
Ensure fairness and equality

If you think i missed a function that should be on there..write it in! But try to use the list as much as possible. Truthfully, i had trouble coming up with 10 functions..so perhaps that is some insight into my political leanings.
